Screw Conveyors Working principle

Screw (Helical Blade)

The heart of the screw conveyor is the helical screw blade that rotates within the tube or trough, pushing the material forward. The screw can be a single, double, or multiple configurations depending on the application.

Tube or Trough

This is the enclosure around the screw that contains and guides the material being moved. Tubes are used for the enclosed transfer, while troughs are partially open on the top and are used for easy access and monitoring of the material flow.

Inlet and Outlet (Feed and Discharge Points)

These are the points where material enters and exits the conveyor. The design and placement of the inlet and outlet can vary based on the application and material handling requirements.

Drive Unit

The drive unit powers the screw’s rotation, typically consisting of an electric motor, gear reducer, and sometimes a coupling or chain and sprocket assembly. The motor size and type are selected based on the conveyor’s required speed, torque, and power needs.
